Sandia Foundation Community Contributions

Since its inception in 1948, the Sandia Foundation has granted more than $40 million to Dickinson College, $40 million to the University of New Mexico, and $9 million to support the work of many Albuquerque nonprofits. We have been proud to support organizations that provide emergency food and shelter to the homeless, job skills training, domestic violence shelters, wellness programs, dance and music programs for young people, dental care for seniors, financial education for women entrepreneurs, and many health organizations.

Moving forward from 2019, the Sandia Foundation is refining the focus of its community giving in order to make a greater impact on a particular area of need. The efforts of the Sandia Foundation are now concentrated on partnering with Albuquerque nonprofits that work with children in our community with regard to basic needs and advancing their education through long-term, consistent intervention and support. We thank our past partners for their outstanding work, and look forward to working with those that align with our focus. Please contact Joanna Colangelo joanna@abqcf.org at the Albuquerque Community Foundation (505) 883-6240 for more information.

In light of the COVID-19 crisis, and understanding the immediate needs of our nonprofit partners, the Sandia Foundation’s Board of Directors has elected to renew funding for our 2019 Sandia Foundation grantees. The majority of these organizations are long-term grantees and organizations we have been proud to partner with for many years. This important decision was made in an effort to streamline funding this year and to ensure uninterrupted emergency programming. We expect our Community Grant Program to be reopened, in its traditional form, in 2021.
